Right off the bat, let me just say that Hidden Depths annoyed me a great deal as it features one of the most irritating mechanics in all of gaming limited and constantly-depleting oxygen. If you're tired of traversing above-ground environments then you can now go underwater in the 5th expansion, Hidden Depths. Minecraft Dungeons: Flames of the Nether gameplay video → Minecraft Dungeons: Hidden Depths Review Xbox One ★★★☆☆ In fact, I enjoyed it so much that it's my favourite of the 6 expansions so if you'll excuse me, I'll go roast some Piglins. It's not what I expected from an expansion but Flames of the Nether managed to impress me with its variety of levels and top-notch gear. Speaking of which, most of the introduced mobs are Piglin types and there are also Blazes which catch tiles on fire and can be quite pesky with their pyromaniac antics. These weapons make dealing with the new enemies a lot of fun. There are also a couple of worthwhile Vine Bow variations which leave poison cloud trails. Some stand-out items include the explosive artifact Blast Fungus, the ricocheting artifact Spinblade, the awesome-looking Mechanized Sawblade, and the very cool Sprout Armor which heals allies when you use potions as well as poisons enemies while you roll. On top of all these juicy levels, Flames of the Nether contains some nifty equipment. Needless to say, that's a lot of content to work through so you can see why I enjoy this pack so much. On top of these stages, you can also unlock 3 more by collecting secret scrolls: Nether Fortress is a dark yet enjoyable citadel, Crimson Forest is a tricky organic area above a volcano, and Soul Sand Valley makes for an eerie and challenging mini-adventure. Its main levels include Nether Wastes which acts as a fitting introduction, Basalt Deltas which really turns up the heat, and Warped Forest which is one of the most unique areas in the entire game. v1d30chumz 109-200-233-75 Is it hot in here or is it just me?įlames of the Nether isn't a typical piece of DLC as it doesn't have a final boss or the Orb of Dominance but it's probably my favourite expansion overall for the simple fact that I love its setting as well as its secrets which add a lot of replay value. The 4th expansion takes place in the fiery dungeons of the Other Dimensions world and it features a whopping 6 levels to explore.
